Budapest Saves a Loaded Women’s Finale for Sunday

The inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship closes Sunday with one of its busiest women’s sessions, bringing together sprinting, distance racing and the triple jump as Budapest crowns its final champions. After two nights built around short, high-stakes fields, the last session includes the women’s 400m hurdles final, the entire 200m semifinal-to-final progression, the 5000m and triple jump finals, along with the mixed 4x400m relay.

Anna Cockrell arrived in Budapest with the world lead after running 52.13 in Zurich, overtaking Emma Zapletalová after the Slovak had built a remarkable season around five Diamond League victories. Jasmine Jones, Rushell Clayton and former Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad add even more depth to a race that offers little room for error in the Championship’s compressed format.
