Texas Tech scored 46 seconds into Friday night's match at South Field and still left Provo with its first loss of the season. #22 BYU answered with three straight goals and held on to beat the #8 Red Raiders 3-2, ending their 18-match unbeaten run.
Taylor Zdrojewski opened the scoring almost immediately, winning the ball from BYU goalkeeper Paiton Collins and finishing for a 1-0 lead. BYU leveled in the 17th minute when Mia Goettsche finished at the far post. Mattyn Summers-Oviatt then took over. She headed in a Sydney Snow delivery about a minute before halftime, and in the 57th minute she slipped through the Texas Tech back line onto a Mika Krommenhoek pass to make it 3-1. Zdrojewski pulled one back in the 71st minute, finishing after a Raleigh Greason shot, and the goal stood after video review. Texas Tech pushed late, but BYU held. The Red Raiders outshot BYU 14-13 and put six on target to BYU's five. It was the first time Texas Tech had conceded three goals since a 3-0 loss to Colorado on Oct. 22, 2025.
