Newly promoted Como 1907 made its Serie A debut impossible to ignore, beating Milan 4-1 behind two goals from Emilie Haavi. The Norwegian struck in the 13th and 25th minutes to give Como early control before Christy Grimshaw pulled one back for Milan in the 69th. Como responded by finishing with a flourish, as Martyna Wiankowska and Tessa Wullaert scored in stoppage time to turn a strong start into a statement result. It was a sharp reversal after Como lost all three of its Serie A Women’s Cup matches before beating Brescia in the Coppa Italia last weekend.
Defending champion Juventus had to work harder for its opening victory, beating Napoli 3-1 after Emilie Mece put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute. Alba Redondo answered five minutes later, Emma Stølen Godø gave Juventus the lead in the 55th and substitute Remina Chiba completed the scoring in the 90th. Juventus remains unbeaten in Serie A openers across all 10 of its seasons in the competition, while Lazio and Parma began their campaigns with a scoreless draw.
