Deja Davis spent seven years at Le Havre and a stint at Paris FC before she ever played in the NWSL, and on Friday night her first goal in the league sent Boston Legacy FC out of its inaugural home schedule with a 2-1 win over Racing Louisville FC. The center back headed in the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after Kayla Fischer had canceled out an early strike from Amanda Gutierres. Both clubs arrived already eliminated from playoff contention, and the match kicked off only after a weather delay of roughly an hour.
Boston needed nine minutes to go in front. Bianca St-Georges delivered a cross and Gutierres finished it for a 1-0 lead. The advantage lasted until the 22nd minute, when Fischer pounced on a mistake by goalkeeper Laurel Ivory to pull Louisville level. Ivory was in goal because Casey Murphy, Boston's regular starter, was placed on the season-ending injury list this week with a posterior cruciate ligament injury in her knee.
