Florida and #24 Colorado delivered the two biggest shocks of a crowded top-25 Thursday, handing #5 Alabama and #7 Baylor damaging conference losses while #2 Michigan State and #12 Texas Tech strengthened their positions with emphatic wins.
In Gainesville, Lena Bailey scored in the 89th minute to give Florida a 1-0 win over Alabama after 88 scoreless minutes in the rain. Lael Hill supplied the assist, and Bailey’s finish was the first shot on goal by either team in the second half. The result was Alabama’s first SEC loss and first shutout defeat of the season, dropping the Crimson Tide to 12-2-0 and 5-1-0 in league play.
