Liberty Makes It 10 Straight as Utah State Settles for a Draw

The longest winning streak in Division I women's soccer grew by one on Saturday night in Georgia. #23 Liberty beat Kennesaw State 2-0 at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium for its 10th consecutive victory, a run Southern Illinois matches but no one exceeds. Two time zones west, #16 Utah State outshot Fresno State 25-4 in Logan and still had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Liberty controlled the match from the start, finishing with a 21-2 edge in shots, 7-2 on target and 5-0 in corners. Carly Keene opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, redirecting a ball that Halle Engle played across the face of goal. Freshman Audrey Heustis doubled the lead in the 77th minute for the first goal of her career. Gabby Garnett's shot glanced off goalkeeper Charlee Bernal and a defender before striking the post, and Heustis put in the rebound. The goal was first ruled offside before a review overturned the call. Avenley Monteith led the Flames with six shots, while Bernal made five saves for the Owls.
