Los Angeles Steals Game 1 With a Relentless Comeback

Los Angeles took the opening game of the WPBL Championship Series 7-6, erasing a four-run deficit and turning what looked like San Francisco's game into the Queens' first win of the final. The Firebells jumped ahead with four runs in the second and two more in the third, but Los Angeles kept chipping away inning after inning until the game completely flipped. The Queens finished with 15 hits, more than twice San Francisco's total, and never stopped applying pressure once they found a rhythm.

Caitlin Eynon was at the center of it, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and giving Los Angeles exactly the kind of middle-of-the-order production it needed to climb back into the game. Ayuri Shimano, Ashton Lansdell, Sarah Edwards and Mo'ne Davis all added two hits, turning the lineup into a constant problem rather than a one-player surge. Los Angeles scored in five straight innings from the second through the sixth, including two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to finally move in front.
