Parsons Breaks Ireland Try Record in Galway Win Over Japan

Béibhinn Parsons scored twice in her hometown Sunday to become Ireland's all-time leading women's Test try scorer, and her second try settled a 31-24 win over Japan in the WXV Global Series at Dexcom Stadium in Galway. Parsons now has 24 Test tries, moving her past Alison Miller.

With a stiff breeze at its back, Ireland built a 19-0 lead in the first half. Player of the match Brittany Hogan scored twice from close range, and Anna McGann released Parsons for a 40-metre finish in the 37th minute. Japan hit back after captain Erin King was sent to the sin bin for going off her feet. Hooker Moe Nagaoka scored from a maul with the last play of the half, then did it again in the 45th minute, and Mana Furuta's conversion cut the lead to 19-12.
