Reign Lose Maddie Dahlien to Torn ACL

Seattle Reign FC placed forward Maddie Dahlien on the season-ending injury list Saturday after she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee while in camp with the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team. The club did not give a date for the injury, plans for surgery or a timeline for her recovery.

The loss comes at the most important point of the Reign's season. Seattle sits ninth in the NWSL at 12-11-4 with 40 points, one place below the playoff line, with three regular-season matches left. The Reign dropped out of the postseason places with a 1-0 home loss to the North Carolina Courage on Oct. 2, and they now have to climb back without one of their most productive attackers. They resume that push on Sunday at Chicago Stars FC at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois, then visit Utah Royals FC on Oct. 23 before closing the regular season at home against the Orlando Pride on Nov. 1.
