Spirit Host Boston as a Short NWSL Sunday Heads to Washington and Portland

Only two matches remain on the NWSL schedule Sunday, but Washington gets an opportunity to build on one of its strongest results of the season when Boston Legacy visits Audi Field. The Spirit arrive after a 2-1 comeback victory at Portland last weekend, their first-ever road win against the Thorns, and return home with another chance to strengthen their position as the regular season moves deeper into September.

Boston arrives with momentum of its own. The expansion side beat Utah 2-1 last weekend, another encouraging result in a first season increasingly defined by its ability to make established NWSL opponents uncomfortable. Washington remains the more accomplished side, but Boston has already shown enough to make this more than a routine home assignment.
