The United States will play for a second straight NORCECA Women’s Final Six title after beating Cuba 25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21 in the semifinals. Cuba did what it could not in Tuesday’s straight-set loss to the Americans by taking the second, but the U.S. immediately regained control with another 25-17 set and finished the match in four. The defending champions remain unbeaten in Zinacantepec and reach another final one week after winning the Pan American Cup in León.
Mexico made much shorter work of Puerto Rico, sweeping 25-10, 25-19, 25-9 to reach the championship match on home soil for the second consecutive year. The hosts had needed four sets to beat Puerto Rico during preliminary play. This time they allowed only 38 points, including just 19 across the first and third sets.
