Bella Woods bent a 51st-minute free kick around the wall and into the bottom right corner Monday night, and #20 BYU made the goal stand for a 1-0 win over Cincinnati at Gettler Stadium to close a two-game Big 12 road trip. The chance came after Emma Neff dribbled into the middle and was fouled just outside the box. Woods, a senior center back, curled the restart past the wall for her second goal of the season. Her first was also a winner, a penalty kick that beat Kansas State 2-1 on October 2.
BYU moved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Big 12. The win came four days after a 2-0 loss at West Virginia, the Cougars’ first conference defeat of the season. Cincinnati fell to 3-6-4 and 1-4-1 in league play, and the loss was the Bearcats’ first at home this season. They had gone 2-0-3 at Gettler Stadium, including a 1-0 win over Utah on Thursday that gave them their first Big 12 victory.
