Mirra Andreeva broke Aliaksandra Sasnovich six times in seven opportunities and needed only 72 minutes for a 6-2, 6-2 victory that sent the top seed into the Singapore quarterfinals. Her reward is Leylah Fernandez, who beat Alycia Parks 6-4, 6-3 to avenge her Roland-Garros loss to the American earlier this year. Parks fought back from 1-5 to 4-5 in the opening set and broke first in the second, but Fernandez answered both challenges to level their career series at 2-2. She now meets Andreeva again after beating her 6-1, 6-4 in Toronto only a few weeks ago.
Maja Chwalińska needed even less time, overwhelming Oleksandra Oliynykova 6-0, 6-1 in 59 minutes while committing only seven unforced errors. The fifth seed advances to face defending champion Elise Mertens, who moved through without playing after Barbora Krejčíková withdrew with a lower-back injury.
