Alexandra Eala won seven games in a row to pull away from Diane Parry on Monday night at the Ningbo Open, beating the Frenchwoman 6-3, 6-1 in 1 hour and 17 minutes to reach the second round of the WTA 500 event and end a three-match losing streak.
The 21-year-old from the Philippines had lost her opening matches in Singapore and Wuhan and had not won a match since the US Open. The victory in Ningbo was her 34th at tour level this season.
