Indiana won the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah Country Club on Tuesday, posting a school-record 840 to hold off #20 Ole Miss by one stroke. The Hoosiers finished at 24-under after rounds of 278, 282 and 280, breaking the program’s three-round record by seven strokes. The previous best, 847, had stood since the 2015 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. Ole Miss closed at 841 and Missouri was third at 847 in the 15-team field. The title is Indiana’s second under coach Brian May, who has guided the Hoosiers to seven top-three team finishes in five seasons.
Minnesota’s Luisamariana Mesones took the individual title at 15-under 201 with rounds of 64, 67 and 70. The senior from Peru, who led by three after Monday’s 36 holes, won for the first time in her college career. Illinois’ Sofia Vargas was second at 203 after rounds of 67, 67 and 69, with eagles in each of her first two rounds.
