Quevedo Rallies Past Podoroska for First WTA Title

#7 Kaitlin Quevedo turned her first WTA final into her first WTA title, rallying past Nadia Podoroska 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to capture the São Paulo Open (SP Open). Podoroska led by a set and a break before Quevedo pulled even, broke in the final game of the second and carried the momentum into the decider, winning its first five games. The 20-year-old Spaniard closed out the championship in two hours and eight minutes, collecting her first tour-level trophy in only her eighth WTA main-draw appearance and climbing to a career-high #73.

EVE’s Note: Eight months ago, Quevedo had never played a WTA main draw. Now she has a tour title and a place inside the Top 75. That is quite a lot of ground covered before her 21st birthday.
