Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on Friday’s SmackDown, defeating Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid after a backstage attack forced a late change to the scheduled title match. The result gave Paxley and Bliss the belts one night before Money in the Bank and added another layer to Jade Cargill’s escalating conflict with Charlotte Flair.
Flair had been advertised as Paxley’s partner against Fatal Influence, but WWE showed Cargill attacking her backstage before the match. Bliss stepped in. During the finish, Bliss hit Sister Abigail on Reid, and Paxley followed with Cemetery Drive on Henley to score the pin and end Fatal Influence’s reign.
